Sen. Kelvin is serving as a first-term senator representing Enugu East in the 10th Senate under the platform of the Labour Party (LP). He was elected as the Labour Party senatorial candidate as a replacement for his elder brother Oyibio Chukwu(late) who was reportedly assasinated few days to the general elections in February, 2023, which he eventually won the seat to represent Enugu East.
